Janice DaweJanice is a highly respected producer with more than 20 years of expertise in developing, financing and producing award-winning factual, drama and digital media production. She recently served as Vice-President and Executive Producer with White Pine Pictures where she oversaw development and production of the company’s slate of award-winning documentaries and drama series.

Over her career, Janice has produced over 150 hours of dramatic, documentary, factual and interactive programming. In the process, she has formed strong relationships with the creative community, broadcasters and international distributors. She has also built trusting relationships with financiers and lenders.

Janice’s Executive Producer credits include: Cracked, a drama series for CBC; the Gemini-nominated City Sonic mobile documentary series; and documentaries Fight Like Soldiers, Die Like Children and The Experimental Eskimos, a compelling look at a social experiment in Canada’s history that received the DGC’s Alan King Award for Excellence in Documentary. As head of production at White Pine Pictures, Janice also oversaw such Oscar shortlisted documentaries as Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glen Gould and The Promise to the Dead.

Janice began her career as a documentary researcher at TVOntario. Later, she was introduced to the business side of production at Breakthrough Films and Television where she worked as a production manager on several documentaries. She also served as co-chair for Canada’s Independent Film Caucus, now known as Documentary Organization of Canada.  She was recently engaged to develop core curriculum for Centennial College’s new “Business of Film and Television” diploma program.

Janice is currently producing a documentary for TVOntario with acclaimed Canadian editor, Michèle Hozer.
